‘It was unintentional’: Analysis reveals 24 additional homicides JPD failed to disclose this year
SUMMARY: The Jackson Police Department has released previously undisclosed homicide cases to the public, revealing that over a hundred people have been killed in the Capital City since the beginning of 2023. The data from the department shows 24 additional killings that were not initially shared, causing a shift in the year-to-date numbers. Before these cases were revealed, it appeared that there was a decrease in killings this year compared to last, but now the total number of homicides is only slightly down from the previous year. The department is addressing this communication breakdown and making changes to ensure it doesn't happen again.
