Introducing our WXXV Student Athlete of the Week: Ocean Springs tri-athlete Farrah James
SUMMARY: Farrah James, a senior from Ocean Springs, is a remarkable athlete who has excelled in softball, powerlifting, and now plans to join the track team. She has a passion for sports as it has given her a sense of community and confidence. Farrah has set personal records in powerlifting and has been recognized as the best light weight lifter at a meet. Despite her busy sports schedule, she has managed to sign to join the Jones College softball team and aspires to play at the Division one level while obtaining a degree in engineering. She has proven that being a strong woman goes beyond physical strength.

SUMMARY: The old frontal boundary is stalled near the coast, with storms expected to fire along it later in the day. The heaviest rainfall is predicted along a line from Austin to DeRidder, up to McComb and near Hattiesburg over the next few days. Severe storms are more likely to form north of this boundary, with large hail possible. The area will be unstable before midnight, with conditions conducive for severe storms. Multiple storm systems are expected on Friday, bringing heavy rainfall and the potential for severe weather. By the weekend, the threat of heavy rain and severe storms will diminish as the surface low and upper weakness move east.

Investigation continues into 4 electrical blackouts on ship that caused Baltimore bridge collapse
SUMMARY: The container ship Dali experienced electrical blackouts before leaving Baltimore's port, which were different from the power outages that led to the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge, killing six workers. The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the incidents, with the ship losing power and crashing into the bridge. Initial findings suggest that maintenance issues and changes to the ship's electrical configuration may have played a role in the accidents. The FBI has also launched a criminal investigation. The ship is expected to be refloated and guided back to the Port of Baltimore.
