Hattiesburg Zoo recycling Mardi Gras beads
SUMMARY: Several parades are scheduled to keep the party going all night and into Ash Wednesday for Mardi Gras. After the floats are packed up, the Hattiesburg Zoo will recycle the Mardi Gras beads if you bring them to the zoo. You can drop off all those purple, green, and gold necklaces at the sustainability station at the zoo gift shop, and the zoo will deliver them to a recycle center in New Orleans.

TVA awards money to schools in Itawamba, Lee, Winston counties for energy upgrades
SUMMARY: The Tennessee Valley Authority recently awarded $70,000 to several local schools for energy and learning environment upgrades. Seven schools received $10,000 each for these improvements, including schools in Lewisville, Fond Noip, and Saltillo. In total, the TVA awarded over $3 million to 106 schools in the southeast.
