Gulfport High’s Herbert T. Wilson ballpark gets new concession and restroom facilities
SUMMARY: The Herbert T. Wilson ballpark in Gulfport, home to the 2023 South State Champion Gulfport Admirals, will be getting a new concession stand and restroom built from shipping containers. Bloxx Building, LLC has been contracted to build these units for use by Gulfport High School’s athletic programs. The concession stand and restrooms will be made from two 8 foot by 40 foot single trip containers, designed to meet the needs of the complex and its fans. The containers offer a robust structure with minimal long-term maintenance and lower cost. The project is seen as an innovative, eco-friendly, and budget-friendly addition to the Gulfport School District’s athletic facilities.

SUMMARY: A fatal shooting occurred in Gulfport on April 28, 2025, when suspects Paul Ravin Martin Jr. and Kevin Eugene James opened fire on individuals in the Holly Circle area. Three victims were injured, and 16-year-old Cobi Earnest later died from gunshot wounds. Martin, 23, was arrested and charged with First-Degree Murder, Shooting into a Dwelling, and three counts of Aggravated Assault. He was out on bond for a previous drive-by shooting. James, 53, remains at large and is wanted for murder and other charges. Authorities urge anyone with information to contact Gulfport Police or Crime Stoppers.
