Former MDOC officer pleads guilty to using excessive force on inmate

SUMMARY: A former Mississippi corrections officer has pleaded guilty to using excessive force against an inmate. Jessica Hill of the Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC) struck the inmate with a canister and repeatedly punched him in the head, even though he was not resisting. Hill continued to strike the inmate until fellow prison staff intervened. She entered a guilty plea and is now facing a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison. The FBI is investigating the case, and Hill's sentencing is for October 25.

Report: Chris Jans signs extension as Mississippi State basketball coach
