First Graduates of USM’s Accelerated BSN Pathway Earn Nursing Pins

SUMMARY: The University of Southern Mississippi recently honored the first graduates of its Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) program. The program is designed to help eligible students earn a BSN degree in a shorter time and decrease barriers to admission. The graduates completed the unconventional pathway and earned their degrees in just 12 months. The program covers essential coursework efficiently and includes the same number of clinical hours as the traditional program. The graduates are well-prepared for real-world healthcare settings. USM also offers a traditional BSN program and a fully online RN-BSN program for those without a bachelor's degree.

USM Army and Air Force ROTC programs host Commissioning Ceremonies

SUMMARY: Ten Army and three Air Force cadets from the University of Southern Mississippi (USM) ROTC were commissioned as Second Lieutenants. The Army ceremony at Camp Shelby featured Major General Janson D. Boyles, while the Air Force ceremony on campus featured Brigadier General Mary-Kathryn Haddad. LTC Juan J. Ortiz praised the Army cadets for their leadership, and Lt. Col. Sheena Puleali'i commended the Air Force cadets for their commitment. Distinguished Military Graduate 2LT Jeremiah J. Parker expressed pride in his training and future goals. Commissioned cadets include 2LT Miruna Avram, 2LT Braxton Bailey, 2LT Jada Fairley, among others.
