Family mourns man killed at Laurel sports bar

SUMMARY: Damarius Cooley, 31, was shot and killed at Premier Sports Bar and Grill in Laurel. Cooley's sister, Adreanna Gammage, was with him shortly before the shooting. Gammage mentioned her brother had just been released from jail and was working to rebuild his life to provide for his three children. Laurel Police Chief Tommy Cox stated that the shooting appears to have been a spontaneous act with no prior issues. Clifton McGruder, 24, was arrested and charged with murder and attempted murder in connection to the shooting. McGruder was released on a $2 million bond.

Court upholds conviction of man sentenced in Jackson rapper’s death
