Dunkin’ Donuts initiative raises awareness for childhood cancer

SUMMARY: Dunkin' Donuts has launched its annual Shine Gold Initiative to battling cancer. Customers are being invited to join the effort by making a $2 donation to the Dunkin' Joy in Childhood Foundation at participating southeast locations. In return for the donation, patrons a Gold Joy doughnut. The scheme runs until August 5th. Since its launch in 2006, the Dunkin' Joy in Childhood Foundation has donated over $45m to national and local nonprofits.

USM Army and Air Force ROTC programs host Commissioning Ceremonies

SUMMARY: Ten Army and three Force cadets from the of Southern Mississippi (USM) ROTC were commissioned as Second Lieutenants. The Army ceremony at Camp Shelby Major General Janson D. Boyles, while the Air Force ceremony on campus featured Brigadier General Mary-Kathryn Haddad. LTC Juan J. Ortiz praised the Army cadets for their leadership, and Lt. Col. Sheena Puleali'i commended the Air Force cadets for their commitment. Distinguished Military Graduate 2LT Jeremiah J. Parker expressed pride in his and future goals. Commissioned cadets include 2LT Miruna Avram, 2LT Braxton Bailey, 2LT Jada Fairley, among others.
