Dozens gather for Parkinson’s Walk to aid in advancing research, improving care
SUMMARY: Several individuals participated in the Parkinson Foundation walk in Ocean Springs to raise awareness about Parkinson’s disease, which affects approximately 1 million people in the U.S. This neurodegenerative disorder is characterized by a gradual loss of dopamine-producing brain cells, impacting movement. Causes include environmental factors and hereditary links, affecting 10-15% of cases. Organizer Nancy Carson has a personal connection, as her husband was diagnosed three years ago. Early signs include tremors, loss of smell, and difficulties with movement. The walk, part of the Foundation’s initiative, promotes exercise and supports enhanced care and research for those affected by Parkinson’s.
Events like the Moving Day walk help the Parkinson’s Foundation make a better life for people with the disease by improving care and advancing research.

Officer-involved shooting in Gulfport was justified, AG says
SUMMARY: The Attorney General’s office has concluded its investigation into a 2024 officer-involved shooting at the William Bell Apartments in Gulfport.
