Seven rescued by law enforcement after being stuck on sandbar in Monroe County
SUMMARY: In Monroe County, several people, including children, faced a potentially deadly situation. The Monroe County Sheriff's Office shared on Facebook that a 911 caller reported being stranded on a sandbar in Town Creek, in the Bigby area. Sheriff Kevin Crook stated that seven individuals were surrounded by rushing water. A deputy went home to Amory, retrieved his boat, and, along with a state wildlife officer, rescued the stranded group. The sheriff noted that the water rose rapidly due to a storm miles upstream, creating a deceptive and dangerous situation for the swimmers.
The Monroe County Sheriff's Office says seven people were rescued after being trapped on a sandbar.

Scouting America Troop becomes first group to complete “Natchez Trace Historic Trek”
SUMMARY: After over three years of perseverance, Scouting America's Troop 85 successfully completed the Natchez Trace Historic Trail, earning a significant medal. The troop hiked 20 miles each in Mississippi, Alabama, and Tennessee, undertook a service project, camped at Meriwether Lewis Campground, and penned two 400-word essays on the historic trail and Meriwether Lewis. Covering a total of 60 miles, this accomplishment marks Troop 85 as the first to achieve this feat. Mr. Perkins aims to repeat the journey in the future, encouraging other nearby troops to appreciate the Natchez Trace's historical significance. Congratulations to Vance and the team!

'Empowering Health” conference for Black men held in Jackson
