Tens of thousands in Mississippi are disenfranchised, predominantly Black individuals. Efforts to restore voting rights face legislative hurdles, though a recent proposal for automatic restoration was blocked. The case underscores ongoing tensions over voting rights and racial discrimination in the state’s legal framework.
