City leaders in Starkville looking to increase pay for city workers
SUMMARY: The city of Starkville in Mississippi is considering increasing its Ad-valorem tax by 1.87% in order to pay their workers better. Currently set at 30.3%, the increase would bring the tax up to 33%. Mayor Lynn Spruill believes that providing a good wage is important in attracting and retaining good employees. The decision on when the increase will take effect has not yet been made, but it will be discussed again at the next board meeting on August 15. The goal is to let the community know where their tax dollars are going and to support the city’s employees.

Bryan Kohberger sentenced for murdering four University of Idaho students
