City council approved change to allow larger crane
SUMMARY: A larger crane is needed for the repairs on the Columbus Riverwalk pedestrian bridge due to extensive damage caused by a barge. The city council approved a $111,000 change order to cover the costs, and the money will come from a lawsuit settlement interest, fee reduction, and unused equipment in the contract. Changes and delays are not unusual in the two-year repair process. The mayor expressed the city's eagerness to have the bridge come back to life, and the use of larger equipment should help speed up the project. The repairs are expected to be completed within the desired time frame.
