SUMMARY: Senate Bill 2715, involving the future of the School of Mathematics and Science at Mississippi University for Women, has been declared dead by Senators Hob Bryan and Chad McMahan. The bill initially proposed merging MUW with Mississippi State, with MSMS relocating to Starkville, but was later amended to have MSMS stay in Columbus under MSU’s oversight. The main issues were low enrollment and a $90 million request for facility improvements. The bill was reduced to a feasibility study and was voted down.
