Bill in Senate proposes closing 3 universities
SUMMARY: 16 WAPT's Ross Adams reports on a bill proposed by State Senator John Polk, who wants to shut down three of Mississippi's eight public universities due to a decrease in high school graduates. With fewer students graduating, there is concern about the competition for a smaller number of students among the remaining universities. State Representative John Hines, from Washington County, supports this bill. The bill aims to address the issue of declining enrollment in Mississippi's higher education institutions.
