AG says manslaughter conviction of former officer should be reversed

SUMMARY: Mississippi Attorney General Lynn Fitch is requesting the reversal of a manslaughter conviction for former Jackson police officer Anthony Fox. The State Court of Appeals had previously denied Fox’s request to be released while his attorneys appealed his conviction. Fox was convicted of culpable negligence manslaughter in the 2019 death of George Robinson, who was hit over the head and in the chest by Fox while police were searching for a suspect who had killed a minister at his church. Fitch argues that the conviction should be reversed.
