A look at how far Moss Point has come since 2023 tornado
SUMMARY: An EF-2 tornado devastated Moss Point, drastically altering lives and the cityscape in just six minutes. Mayor Billy Knight and resident Gladys Douglas expressed shock but highlighted the swift community response. Over 1,400 volunteers helped with recovery efforts, including groups like the Cajun Navy and Mennonite Disaster Services. Community efforts led to rebuilding eight homes from scratch and renovating 14. Despite significant progress, many residents still struggle to recover, and there’s a call for better future disaster planning. Mayor Knight emphasized the importance of unity in overcoming challenges, and Douglas praised the altruism that spurred the city’s comeback.

SUMMARY: Kelsey Mason, a Vancleave High alum and Shelton State signee, is set to represent Team USA in the Scotland Junior Golf Invitational, a prestigious six-day tour through Scotland’s iconic golf courses, including St. Andrews and North Berwick. Excited by the challenge of playing in new conditions, Mason is one of only 21 U.S. golfers selected. She credits her NIL deal with Generator Supercenter for helping fund her tournament trip and college expenses. Before heading to Scotland, she’s playing at Whispering Pines in Moss Point. Mason looks forward to showcasing her talent and embracing the international golfing experience.
