Bay St. Louis’ Arts Alive festival weekend wraps up

Typically a one-day festival, Arts Alive was extended to two days this year, to give more people an opportunity to come out and enjoy the event.

American Red Cross ‘Sound the Alarm’ campaign installing free smoke alarms in Biloxi
SUMMARY: Bo Rage has partnered with the American Red Cross and the Buxy Fire Department to install free smoke detectors in homes, as part of the Red Cross's National Sound the Alarm campaign. For the past decade, this initiative has installed over 1 million smoke alarms, helping to save lives by ensuring families are prepared in the event of a fire. Volunteers annually canvass neighborhoods in Buxy, creating fire escape plans and installing alarms. Despite substantial progress, disaster program manager Wendy Sample underscores the ongoing need due to new households, poverty, and elderly residents. So far, 2,111 lives have been documented as saved.
On Tuesday, the Beau Rivage partnered with the American Red Cross and the Biloxi Fire Department to install free smoke detectors in Biloxi homes.

Homeless issue under spotlight at Biloxi City Council meeting

Firemen fight blaze at Sugar Mill Apartments in Gulfport, inspiring young trainees
SUMMARY: Golfport firefighters rescued three people from a burning apartment building at Sugar Mill Apartments. The trainees didn't get to help battle the blaze, but Training Chief Eric Valles said they'll benefit from witnessing what unfolded.
