‘It’s a really poor system’: Lane Kiffin weighs in on spring transfer portal period
SUMMARY: The college football spring transfer portal opens, allowing players two weeks to switch schools except in the SEC, where intra-conference transfers aren't immediately eligible. Players can leave or return to their teams, but scholarships aren't guaranteed. Despite successfully using the portal to strengthen his Ole Miss roster with talents like Jaxson Dart and Caden Prieskorn, Coach Lane Kiffin criticizes the system. He believes the spring portal period encourages instability, as players can easily transfer after securing name, image, and likeness (NIL) deals. Kiffin's team has bolstered its defense through the portal but faces uncertainty regarding players' commitments.
