Seven rescued by law enforcement after being stuck on sandbar in Monroe County

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office shared on Facebook that a 911 caller reported being stranded on a sandbar in Town Creek, in the Bigby area. Sheriff Kevin Crook stated that seven individuals were surrounded by rushing . A deputy went home to Amory, retrieved his boat, and, along with a wildlife officer, rescued the stranded group. The sheriff noted that the water rose rapidly due to a storm miles upstream, creating a deceptive and dangerous situation for the swimmers.

Scouting America Troop becomes first group to complete “Natchez Trace Historic Trek”

Covering a total of 60 miles, this accomplishment marks Troop 85 as the first to achieve this feat. Mr. Perkins aims to repeat the journey in the future, encouraging other nearby troops to appreciate the Natchez Trace's historical significance. Congratulations to Vance and the team!
