Itawamba County deputies, state narcotics unit make drug arrests
SUMMARY: The Itawamba County Sheriff's Office and the North Mississippi Narcotics Unit arrested Arron Heatherly and Morgan Walker at a home in Mantachie and confiscated methamphetamine and fentanyl. Walker was found with additional fentanyl during booking and both were charged with possession of fentanyl and methamphetamine. Walker was also charged with intent to distribute and introducing contraband into a correctional facility. Bond was set at $45,000 for each of them. The incident highlights the efforts of law enforcement to remove dangerous drugs from the streets and hold individuals accountable for illegal substances.

SUMMARY: Hinds County Board of Supervisors expelled District 2 Supervisor Tony Smith from a meeting for carrying a firearm without a concealed carry permit. Hinds County Sheriff Tyree Jones noticed Smith's gun under his jacket during a recess and addressed the issue.
