Pre-K registration nearing in Lamar County
SUMMARY: City leaders are asking for patience while parks undergo renovations and pre-K collaboratives across the Pinebelt are now accepting applications for the 2024-2025 school year. Lamar County schools are accepting pre-K registration dates beginning on April 12th. Children must be four years old by September 1st to apply. The program offers fully trained teachers with a one to 10 teacher to child ratio. It provides a great opportunity for children to learn and interact with their peers. School leaders advise that registration fills up fast and there could be a waiting list. Interested parents can find the application link and more information on WDAM.com.

South Pontotoc beats West Lauderdale to move on to the North Half championship series
SUMMARY: The game was a close one as the Cougars faced a must-win situation with a packed crowd at Cougar Field. In the top of the first inning, a double play by the third baseman helped the Cougars get out of a tight spot. In the bottom of the first, Dalton Tutor hit towards third but another double play ended the inning scoreless. The game remained tied until the bottom of the third when Eli Holloway hit a solo home run, giving the Cougars their first lead. The Cougars held on to win 3-2 and advance to the north half championship series.
