3/25 – Trey Tonnessen’s “Severe Likely” Monday Evening Forecast
SUMMARY: Severe weather is expected tonight in Mississippi with an enhanced risk of severe weather development. A line of thunderstorms is forecasted for tomorrow morning, with potential strong cells forming ahead of the main line. Strong winds are already present, with temperatures in the upper 60s and 70s. The storm system is expected to move slowly, increasing the risk of individual cells forming and becoming stronger. However, the weather is expected to clear by tomorrow afternoon. The rest of the week looks calm and comfortable, with temperatures in the upper 70s. Severe weather precautions are advised, with multiple ways to receive warnings. Stay safe and download the app for updates.
There is a deep surface low moving through the central Plains today combining with a large area of high pressure dominating all of the eastern Seaboard and into the central Gulf is leading to a rather impressive pressure gradient across the region. Across the viewing area, the pressure gradient is around 8Mb and that typically is more than sufficient to get windy conditions. The winds being this strong has kept the airmass well mixed and thus most places have only just now gotten into the mid 70s. When that is combined with the broken to overcast skies, those combinations limits warming compared to what it could be.
As always: A cloudy day is no match for a sunny disposition. Be nice to each other.

Expert Talk with The Window Source of the Gulf Coast, Cye Young
SUMMARY: Today on WXX Expert Talk, host Michelle Eubank welcomes S Young from The Window Source Gulf Coast to discuss the importance of having hurricane-resistant windows on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. S Young explains that homes in the area need to meet a design pressure of around dp50 to withstand 200 mph winds. Many homes still have old aluminum windows that do not meet this standard. The Window Source Gulf Coast offers specials on new windows, including impact glass and hurricane-resistant options like fabric shield or hurricane shutters. Homeowners can contact them for more information or visit their website for financing options.
