Spring cleaning held in Tupelo on Saturday

SUMMARY: Today, over a thousand people in Tupelo participated in a community cleanup effort, surpassing the expected 500. Participants, including church groups and individuals, helped clean up littered areas such as parks and schools. Organizers believe that cleaning up the community adds value to properties in the city and teaches the importance of helping others. Some suggest expanding cleanup efforts to surrounding counties in North Mississippi to further improve the cleanliness of the area. The widespread participation in the cleanup demonstrates a collective effort to make Tupelo and other areas more beautiful and sustainable.

Volunteers were all over Tupelo on Saturday for a spring cleaning day!

Jackson City Councilman Kenneth Stokes is addressing confusion about new parking meters downtown, activated on May 1st. Stokes received numerous complaints about parking tickets despite correct meter use. He proposes a 90-day grace period to educate people on using the meters properly. Stokes stated, “Instead of giving citizens tickets they do not deserve, we need a 90-day grace period to educate them on meter usage.”
