Recovery support for March 2023 tornadoes tops $84.9 million
SUMMARY: One year after tornadoes hit Mississippi, over $84.9 million in state and federal assistance has been provided to survivors. This includes grants from FEMA and MEMA, as well as low-interest disaster loans from the SBA. FEMA has approved over $13.1 million in grants for renters and homeowners in six counties. FEMA is also working to provide temporary housing to eligible applicants in those counties. SBA has approved over $20.3 million in disaster loans for homeowners, renters, and businesses. Additionally, seven counties have been approved for Public Assistance.
