Hurricane House built in Bay St. Louis
SUMMARY: Hurricane chaser Josh Morgerman has built a resilient “hurricane house” in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi. While most people evacuate during hurricanes, Josh stays to collect data from the eye of the storm, having experienced over 70 hurricanes and typhoons globally. He moved from Los Angeles to coastal Mississippi during the pandemic due to travel restrictions and fell in love with the area. His house incorporates advanced building techniques, such as using 2×6 studs, a standing seam metal roof, and fiber cement siding for maximum durability. The house also features a state-of-the-art weather station to monitor storm conditions. Josh anticipates a busy hurricane season ahead.
