Several north Mississippi high school teams returning as champions from Jackson

SUMMARY: Today is the final day of the high school state basketball championships in North Mississippi. Jason Williams is reporting live on the first championship game between Tupelo Golden Wave and Germantown Mavericks. Earlier, Tishomingo County Lady Braves won the 4A girl state championship against Morton High School Panthers. The Lady Braves dominated the game, winning 37-17 and securing their first program title. Coach Brian Middleton expressed relief and gratitude for the community's support. Tupelo Golden Wave currently leads the Mavericks 8-4 in the ongoing game. Williams will have highlights at 10 p.m. tonight. Congrats to the Lady Braves on their victory.

Saturday is the third and final day of the high school basketball state championships.

Wiggins firefighter pinned in fire engine accident released from hospital

SUMMARY: A fire truck crash in Wiggins injured a firefighter, who was responding to a single-vehicle accident. Around midnight, the Wiggins Fire Department's engine rolled multiple times en route, trapping a firefighter underneath. The firefighter was rescued using the jaws of life and transported to a hospital, where she has been discharged and is expected to fully recover. The person involved in the initial single-vehicle accident was also freed and was uninjured. Fire Chief Steve Purvis provided this information.
