Agriculture and Commerce Commissioner Andy Gipson announced the development of the Genuine Mississippi Agricultural Market Complex, a first of its kind. Located in Brandon, the market complex will provide long-term food supply, storage, and distribution resiliency for the people of Mississippi. It will feature high-quality meat products such as beef, chicken, pork, and catfish. The Genuine Mississippi Market will also include the Genuine Mississippi restaurant. Gipson emphasized the importance of supporting local agriculture and providing quality food options for Mississippi residents.

The Genuine Mississippi Agricultural Market Complex is coming to Brandon.

Wiggins firefighter pinned in fire engine accident released from hospital

Around midnight, the Wiggins Fire Department's engine rolled multiple times en route, trapping a firefighter underneath. The firefighter was rescued using the jaws of life and transported to a hospital, where she has been discharged and is expected to fully recover. The person involved in the initial single-vehicle accident was also freed and was uninjured. Fire Chief Steve Purvis provided this information.
