Dozens of teams compete in Brandon Gumbo Cook-off
SUMMARY: The 5th annual Krewe de Roux festival, held by the Rankin County Chamber and City of Brandon, featured a gumbo cook-off, classic car show, king cake contest, kid zone, and music by the Southern Komfort Brass Band. Nearly 50 teams participated in the gumbo cook-off in hopes of winning best gumbo and fan favorite. Car enthusiasts enjoyed browsing through a large collection of unique cars in the parking lot of the Brandon Amphitheater. Attendees, including Whitney Spiers, enjoyed the event for the community involvement and fun, regardless of winning. Overall, the festival was a big event that brought people together for a day of food, cars, and entertainment.

Students in New Albany take a tour of the city
SUMMARY: Over 200 third graders from New Albany Elementary and East Union Attendance Center in Union County went on a downtown tour to visit local businesses and learn about different occupations.
