Safe Haven Baby Box
SUMMARY: A baby box has been installed at Simpson General Hospital in Mississippi, which serves as a safe place for mothers to anonymously leave their babies if they can't care for them. Caitlin Kelly, a nurse and advocate, worked to install the box, believing that it will help prevent abandoned infants. The installation of the baby box is part of a movement to provide a safe alternative for unwanted babies, especially with the recent ban on abortion in Mississippi. Other states are also considering installing baby boxes as a solution. As a result, more women may feel unable to care for their children and choose to use these safe havens.
