Gulf of Mexico Alliance receives $3.9 million in bipartisan infrastructure law funding to benefit the Gulf Coast

SUMMARY: The of Mexico Alliance is investing $3.9 million in Bipartisan from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to increase regional collaboration and priorities identified by the five Gulf states. Thirteen new projects located across the Gulf states will focus on coastal community resilience, data accessibility and sharing, wildlife and fisheries, and marine debris. The projects aim to improve the of ocean and coastal ecosystems, enhance the resilience of coastal communities, and increase regional data sharing from fall through early 2025. Each was selected to achieve goals identified in the Alliance's Governors' Action Plan IV for Healthy and Resilient Coasts.

USM Army and Air Force ROTC programs host Commissioning Ceremonies

SUMMARY: Ten Army and three Force cadets from the of Southern Mississippi (USM) ROTC were commissioned as Second Lieutenants. The Army ceremony at Camp Shelby Major General Janson D. Boyles, while the Air Force ceremony on campus featured Brigadier General Mary-Kathryn Haddad. LTC Juan J. Ortiz praised the Army cadets for their leadership, and Lt. Col. Sheena Puleali'i commended the Air Force cadets for their commitment. Distinguished Military Graduate 2LT Jeremiah J. Parker expressed pride in his and future goals. Commissioned cadets include 2LT Miruna Avram, 2LT Braxton Bailey, 2LT Jada Fairley, among others.
