LCBS appoints temporary interim county prosecutor

SUMMARY: Lowndes County in Mississippi has appointed Will Cooper as the interim county prosecutor the resignation of William Starks. Starks resigned to take a position as an Assistant District Attorney, leaving the position open. Cooper will handle the duties of the office until a special election on November 24, which three people have applied for. The Board of Supervisors voted unanimously for this appointment. Tim Hudson was serving on a temporary basis until an interim could be named, but now Cooper will be taking over until the special election.

Starkville Police charge three people in an aggravated assault case

SUMMARY: On May 17th at 12:23 a.m., Starkville responded to gunshots at the intersection of South Montgomery Street and Yellow Jacket . Three individuals were charged in the incident: Marcuevas Guido with aggravated assault, Cedric Lucious with disorderly conduct and possession of a stolen firearm, and Cornelius Hendrix with accessory after the fact. A vehicle was damaged, but no injuries were reported. The investigation is ongoing, and more arrests are expected.
