JSU senior is healthy and contributing to the Tigers
SUMMARY: The Rebels are now 3-2 in the SEC and will face Florida in Oxford on Thursday. The JSU women's basketball team is off to a great start in SWAC play, winning their first four games. Senior leadership from Miya Crump has been instrumental in the team's success, as she missed most of last year due to injury. Crump's return has boosted the team, with her scoring 13 points and grabbing 9 rebounds in their last game. Despite the challenge of not trying to make up for lost time, Crump is playing within herself and the team is benefiting from her experience as a winner at JSU.
Miya Crump was sorely missed last year as the JSU women's basketball team fell short in the SWAC Semifinals. But the senior forward is back from injury and making an impact for the Tigers. She is second on the team in score with at least 15 games played and is second in rebounding. The Houston native has been eager to get back on the court and is helping lead the way for this team which hopes to remain on top of the SWAC come March.

Friends remember playing at Grove Park for Coach Cheatham
SUMMARY: Grove Park has served as a vital safe haven for Black children in Jackson for over 50 years, especially through its Little League Baseball fields. Following the death of influential coach Walter Cheatham, the community is reflecting on Grove Park's impact and its decline. Cheatham coached for over 50 years, mentoring thousands of children. The park once attracted over 800 kids each summer, offering an escape from neighborhood hardships. However, amid increasing youth crime and changing circumstances, Grove Park's capacity has dwindled. There is a pressing call to revive its influence to continue supporting the community's youth.
