Child neglect arrests made in Calhoun Co.
SUMMARY: Two people in Calhoun County, Mississippi were arrested for possession of a controlled substance and three counts of child neglect after three children were found living in deplorable conditions. The discovery was made when deputies served a search warrant at a home near Derma and seized ecstasy. All three children were under six years old and Sheriff Greg Pollan described the living conditions as some of the worst he had ever seen. The case remained under investigation.

Jackson police arrest man after victim shot in head
SUMMARY: Jackson police arrested suspect Barnett Evans after a shooting at an apartment complex on Raymond Road. The victim, who was shot in the head, was involved in a fight with Evans which led to the incident. After fleeing the scene, Evans was located at a home on Treehaven Drive and convinced to surrender by a hostage negotiator. The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment.
