Administrative hold remains on bulk of Mississippi’s medical cannabis products
SUMMARY: The Mississippi State Department of Health has paused the sale of many medical cannabis products for retesting due to concerns raised by an anonymous tip about pesticide use and mycotoxins at Rapid Analytics, one of two state-approved testing labs. This administrative hold has halted sales in about 70% of dispensaries, significantly impacting many, particularly smaller operations. While investigations continue and no illnesses have been reported, retesting prioritizes different product categories starting with cannabis flower. Products passing the retests will return to the market. Items tested by the other lab, Steep Hill, are not affected and remain available for sale.

Mississippi State alum Doug Barron wins first PGA Tour Champions major title
SUMMARY: Doug Barron, a golf journeyman, claimed his first PGA Tour Champions major by winning the Regions Tradition in Birmingham, Alabama, after a subdued career following his 1992 graduation from Mississippi State. He finished at 17-under 271, outpacing Steven Alker and legends like Ernie Els and Padraig Harrington. Barron, who also runs a golf academy, faced a low point in 2009 when the PGA suspended him for doping—a ban lifted in 2010 after a legal dispute. Since joining the senior circuit in 2019, Barron, 54, has surpassed his career PGA Tour earnings, totaling over $4.2 million.
