The top occupations with the highest number of job openings include registered nurses, fast food and retail workers, managers, supervisors, and physicians. Despite a low unemployment rate, there is a shortage of workers due to factors like baby boomers retiring and the impact of the pandemic on the hospitality industry. Industries with high earnings include healthcare, manufacturing, education, retail, transportation, and public administration. Some in-demand professions include engineering, social work, and medical fields. Experts suggest that an influx of younger workers may help fill the job vacancies in Mississippi.
