The Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians hosted a groundbreaking ceremony for its new Central Middle and High School campus. A new school is being planned that will include a basketball arena, turf football field, state-of-the-art media center, labs, and over 70 classrooms. Tribal Chief Cyrus Ben and a current student expressed excitement about the new school. The student noted the achievements made by the tribe and the power of providing for future students. The project will cost 134 million.

Overnight lane closure in Madison County

Wiggins firefighter pinned in fire engine accident released from hospital

SUMMARY: A fire truck crash in Wiggins injured a firefighter, who was responding to a single-vehicle accident. Around midnight, the Wiggins Fire Department's engine rolled multiple times en route, trapping a firefighter underneath. The firefighter was rescued using the jaws of life and transported to a hospital, where she has been discharged and is expected to fully recover. The person involved in the initial single-vehicle accident was also freed and was uninjured. Fire Chief Steve Purvis provided this information.
