Columbus Police will more effectively enforce traffic laws with radar upgrades
SUMMARY: The Columbus Police Department received complaints about speeding drivers but had outdated radar equipment. They recently upgraded and now have more accurate and effective radar units. The new radars can detect individual car speeds and are being used to enforce traffic laws. Officer Fortney, known as The Ticket Master, is skilled in traffic enforcement and issues over 150 tickets a month. Chief Doy emphasizes the importance of traffic enforcement for safety, especially around school zones. The department plans to expand the Traffic Unit and dedicate officers to traffic enforcement. Overall, the new radar units are considered a game changer for the Columbus Police Department.
