SWAT teams competition held in Hub City Thursday
SUMMARY: Jason White, the presumed new speaker, has signaled he is open to discussing the options. The Pine Belt served as a competition battleground for local law enforcement agencies to put their skills to the test. Keaundria Milloy tells us about the challenges they faced to come out on top at the annual Southeast SWAT competition. A total of six agencies with seven teams competed in six events to test their strengths as first responders, including marksmanship, teamwork, and physical ability. This is not an easy job, as all teams are put to the test in various areas.

MEMORIAL DAY CEREMONY PREVIEW
SUMMARY: The East Mississippi Veterans Foundation will host a Memorial Day Ceremony this Friday at 10 a.m. at East Mississippi Veterans Park. The annual event honors military personnel who sacrificed their lives for the country. The ceremony will feature guest speaker Lieutenant Colonel Jason McAlhany, a flyover, and patriotic songs by Grayson Co Pepper. The foundation commemorates 244 individuals from Lauderdale County who died in combat since World War I, with their names on the park's wall of remembrance. This marks the third year of the event, with plans to continue it for years to come.

SUMMARY: Tonight, some weakening showers and thunderstorms are moving in from the West, potentially reaching our area after midnight. They may bring showers, especially west of Meridian and Highway 59, with downpours likely clearing by sunrise. Thursday will start cloudy and transition to partly cloudy in the afternoon, with a chance of stray showers. Similar weather is expected Thursday night into Friday morning, with showers possibly sneaking in, though weaker. Memorial Day weekend could see scattered showers and thunderstorms, with a low chance of severe weather. Cooler, more comfortable highs in the mid-80s are expected after the holiday. Lafayette wins a thriller over Vancleave to take game one
SUMMARY: In the baseball game between Pearl's Commodores and Van Cleave High School, Van Cleave initially led with an RBI infield single from Max Bates in the second inning, followed by Conor Counts' RBI single to tie the game at 2-2. In the third inning, Leighton Deer's RBI single put Van Cleave back in the lead at 3-2. By the sixth inning, Houston Morgan's fielder's choice and Balon Bishop's two-run single gave the Commodores a 7-4 advantage. The game, which began at 7:00, saw Lafayette take an 8-7 lead later on, with the final results pending.
Lafayette baseball beat Vancleave High School in 12 innings to win game one of the 5A state championship series.
