Montgomery County officials consider building community storm shelter
SUMMARY: Montgomery County, Missisipi was hit by a tornado nearly eight months ago, and since then the residents have been facing challenges to rebuild and find shelter. The county supervisors are now discussing the possibility of building a community safe room, a lengthy process that may take up to five years. Residents like Jerry Flowers have experienced the devastation of the tornado and have lost their homes, but still prioritize the safety of their family and neighbors. The former Mayor believes that the cost of building a shelter could outweigh the benefits. Currently, supervisors are looking into funding and the location for the shelter.
