SUMMARY: Naomi Smith, a sophomore at Pascagoula High School, is being recognized as a talented dual-sport athlete and percussionist. Known for her ability to excel in swimming, pole vaulting, and percussion, Smith's accomplishments include winning first place in both the 200 individual medley and the 100-meter butterfly at the South State meet last week. Alongside these successes, she participates in multiple clubs and maintains her studies. Smith credits her successes to her supportive circle, coaches, and her ability to communicate. She hopes to inspire others to step out of their comfort zones and take up new activities.

SUMMARY: Ten Army and three Air Force cadets from the University of Southern Mississippi (USM) ROTC were commissioned as Second Lieutenants. The Army ceremony at Camp Shelby featured Major General Janson D. Boyles, while the Air Force ceremony on campus featured Brigadier General Mary-Kathryn Haddad. LTC Juan J. Ortiz praised the Army cadets for their leadership, and Lt. Col. Sheena Puleali'i commended the Air Force cadets for their commitment. Distinguished Military Graduate 2LT Jeremiah J. Parker expressed pride in his training and future goals. Commissioned cadets include 2LT Miruna Avram, 2LT Braxton Bailey, 2LT Jada Fairley, among others.
