Mississippi, Alabama cousins sentenced for Jan. 6 attack

SUMMARY: A federal judge has two cousins from Mississippi and Alabama for their involvement in the January 6 Capitol breach. Smith, 45, was given a 9-year prison sentence and three years probation for storming the Capitol and attempting to break a window with a pole. When that failed, Smith joined others to confront and assault Capitol . His cousin, Donnie Ren, received a sentence of one year and one day. Smith was convicted on 11 counts, civil disorder.

A federal judge has sentenced two cousins from Mississippi and Alabama for their part in the Jan. 6, 2021, attack at the U.S. Capitol.
