Jackson residents discuss concerns about police chases
SUMMARY: A meeting was held in Jackson to discuss the issue of police chases causing harm to innocent lives. Councilman Kenneth Stokes brought together community members and members of the Jackson Police Department to address concerns about the dangers of these chases. Stokes believes that the law should be changed to prioritize the safety of innocent people and suggests alternative methods for apprehending suspects. One resident shared her experience of a high-speed chase that nearly destroyed her home. Captain Christian Vance of the Jackson Police Department clarified that chases are only pursued for violent crimes and that multiple factors are considered before engaging in a chase.
