Local leaders visit Columbus Middle for school’s first intersession
SUMMARY: Columbus Middle School in Mississippi hosted a program where local professionals, including a judge, COO, and firefighters, visited the school to meet the students. The students had the opportunity to participate in a mock trial, debate, and sit in the driver's seat of a fire truck. Principal Kimberly Lathan explained that this program, called intersession, allows students to catch up on class work and improve their academic skills. This is the first year that the Columbus Municipal School District is participating in the modified school calendar.
