Jackson County Disaster Recovery Center Closed Sunday and Labor Day

SUMMARY: The Disaster Recovery Center in County by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the will be closed for Labor Day on September 3 and 4. It will reopen on September 5. The center offers homeowners and renters face-to-face meetings with recovery specialists, FEMA application specialists, representatives, disaster loan specialists, and education and outreach specialists from the Hazard Mitigation Community. Assistance can also be applied for online or via phone.

USM Army and Air Force ROTC programs host Commissioning Ceremonies

SUMMARY: Ten Army and three Force cadets from the of Southern Mississippi (USM) ROTC were commissioned as Second Lieutenants. The Army ceremony at Camp Shelby Major General Janson D. Boyles, while the Air Force ceremony on campus featured Brigadier General Mary-Kathryn Haddad. LTC Juan J. Ortiz praised the Army cadets for their leadership, and Lt. Col. Sheena Puleali'i commended the Air Force cadets for their commitment. Distinguished Military Graduate 2LT Jeremiah J. Parker expressed pride in his and future goals. Commissioned cadets include 2LT Miruna Avram, 2LT Braxton Bailey, 2LT Jada Fairley, among others.
