Lafayette County man arrested for sexual battery
SUMMARY: A man in Lafayette County, Mississippi, identified as 27-year-old Elijah Joseph Wells of Oxford, was arrested for sexual battery following a walk-in complaint on May 22. Investigators established probable cause and an arrest warrant was issued. Wells was apprehended without incident at his home and taken to the Lafayette County Detention Center. Inmate at Union County Jail found dead in cell
SUMMARY: Kenneth Gerald Bennett, 36, of Blue Springs, was found dead in his cell at the Union County Jail on Saturday, June 1, around 4 p.m., due to an apparent suicide. Bennett, who was being held on charges of commercial burglary and grand larceny, was discovered by a detention officer. The Mississippi Department of Corrections had a hold on him.
