Extra security in place for Mississippi Book Festival
SUMMARY: Former vice president and presidential candidate Mike Pence is set to attend the Mississippi Book Festival in Jackson on August 19. Capitol Police Chief Bo Luckey stated that there will be a heavy police presence and private security at the event, and transportation will be provided for those who need assistance. Luckey emphasized the importance of hydration due to the hot weather and encouraged attendees not to leave valuable items in their cars. The festival will begin at 9:00 a.m. and is located on the South side of the State Capitol building.
