Mississippi ex-law enforcement charged with civil rights offenses against 2 Black men during raid

SUMMARY: Six former enforcement in Mississippi, all of whom are white, have been charged with federal offenses for the brutalization of two Black during a home raid. The charges were unsealed on Thursday as the officers appeared in federal court. The men, Michael Corey Jenkins and Eddie Terrell Parker, filed a federal civil rights against Rankin County seeking $400 million in damages. They claim that the officers burst into their home without a warrant, subjected them to brutality, and one officer shot Jenkins in the mouth. The Justice Department launched a civil rights probe into the allegations in February.
