Work for Warriors Symposium helps veterans find jobs
SUMMARY: A symposium took place in Gulfport, Mississippi with the aim of helping military veterans integrate back into the workforce. The ‘Work for Warriors Symposium' was attended by employers, business leaders and various military employment directors with the goal of learning more about the ‘Work for Warriors Project'. The initiative is designed to provide employment opportunities for national guardsmen and women, military veterans and their families. The state of Mississippi currently ranks in the top 15 for unemployment with 7.9% of those unemployed being veterans.

USM Army and Air Force ROTC programs host Commissioning Ceremonies
SUMMARY: Ten Army and three Air Force cadets from the University of Southern Mississippi (USM) ROTC were commissioned as Second Lieutenants. The Army ceremony at Camp Shelby featured Major General Janson D. Boyles, while the Air Force ceremony on campus featured Brigadier General Mary-Kathryn Haddad. LTC Juan J. Ortiz praised the Army cadets for their leadership, and Lt. Col. Sheena Puleali'i commended the Air Force cadets for their commitment. Distinguished Military Graduate 2LT Jeremiah J. Parker expressed pride in his training and future goals. Commissioned cadets include 2LT Miruna Avram, 2LT Braxton Bailey, 2LT Jada Fairley, among others.
