Fugitive wanted in Washington State arrested in Hancock County

SUMMARY: Joseph Peter Berge III, a fugitive wanted in Washington since 2019 for escaping probation supervision, two counts of child molestation and failure to register as a sex offender, has been in Hancock County, Mississippi. Berge was living under the alias Seth Jones with an altered date of birth. His girlfriend, Muriah Jones, was also arrested for felony hindering prosecution. Both were transported to Hancock County Adult Detention Center. The arrest follows an anonymous tip to the Hancock County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Division.

USM Army and Air Force ROTC programs host Commissioning Ceremonies

SUMMARY: Ten Army and three Force cadets from the of Southern Mississippi (USM) ROTC were commissioned as Second Lieutenants. The Army ceremony at Camp Shelby Major General Janson D. Boyles, while the Air Force ceremony on campus featured Brigadier General Mary-Kathryn Haddad. LTC Juan J. Ortiz praised the Army cadets for their leadership, and Lt. Col. Sheena Puleali'i commended the Air Force cadets for their commitment. Distinguished Military Graduate 2LT Jeremiah J. Parker expressed pride in his and future goals. Commissioned cadets include 2LT Miruna Avram, 2LT Braxton Bailey, 2LT Jada Fairley, among others.
